The Slipcase is edited by moi. A cheerful fellow, armchair traveller, avid book reader, world citizen—a lover of cheesecake. Having previously resided in the city of ‘hygge’ Copenhagen in Denmark—he dreamt of an affluent life in London, England in the late 19th century as an independently wealthy, educated gentleman, travelling 80 days around the world in a Victorian balloon, with his faithful valet Jean-Pierre, while also visiting London’s cul- tural institutions and art galleries, museums, theatre, libraries, and auction houses. He can now be found either attending meetings at The Royal Geographical Society, dotting off to Constantinople on the Orient Express, or reading his newspaper at a renowned London Gentlemen’s Club.

I am passionate about books, The Folio Society, Librarything.com, Danish Design, Royal Copenhagen Porcelain, Georg Jensen, Arne Jacobsen, Verner Panton, and Bang and Olufsen. Sometimes, I build LEGO with my niece. Denmark is a wonderful place in summer. In 2016, I quit my job and moved to London.

Created with love from London and Copenhagen

A Note on My Book Collection

I own around 1,000 books, mostly non-fiction, in the form of biographies and history. I do also have a selection of fiction, but these are mostly classics. I don’t read contemporary fiction. I’m a reader first, collector second, and I try to read all the books I collect. I’m a collector of fine editions because I believe life is too short to read on crappy paper. I don’t buy paperbacks, but I do enjoy listening to audiobooks on Audible.
